FAQ
How does this donation stuff work?
The nonprofit Independent Documentary Association (IDA) is acting as the fiscal sponsor for "The Renaissance of Mata Ortiz."
Fiscal sponsorship is a legal and financial arrangement which allows a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit corporation, such as the International Documentary Association, to provide its nonprofit status and limited financial oversight to a project by an individual or organization that does not have nonprofit status. The IDA can provide this service to a variety of projects if they meet the fiscal sponsorship admissions criteria and their project is in line with our mission statement. This arrangement is a well-accepted model of nonprofit arts funding for individuals and organizations who do not have legal nonprofit status, but would like to take advantage of funding offered to 501(c)(3) organizations.
The IDA was founded in 1982 as a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting the efforts of nonfiction film and video makers throughout the United States and the world; promoting the documentary form; and expanding opportunities for the production, distribution, and exhibition of documentary. The IDA is committed to continuing its efforts to increase public appreciation and demand for documentary films, videos, and television programs across all ethnic, political and socioeconomic boundaries.
Donations given to this project via the IDA are tax-deductible where allowed by US law. Click on the button below to donate.

Can't I just write you a check?
In order for it to be tax-deductible, it must go through the IDA, my fiscal sponsor.
When will the movie be done?
2010.
How do I get to see the movie?
Drop me an email and I'll let you know when and where the movie screens, including the DVD release.
Will you sell my email address?
No.
Why should I donate to you when kids are starving in (pick a country)?
If it's a choice between a starving kid and my movie, by all means help the starving kid. But if you like to support the arts, please consider donating to my project.
Why should I donate to a rich Hollywood producer?
You shouldn't and I'm not.
